Job Title: Dashboard Design and Development Consultant (Internal)
ACOE Design is seeking a skilled short-term consultant to collaborate on the design and development of the ACOE Data Design System (DDS). The DDS is a comprehensive, unified, and adaptable design system that ensures a consistent and predictable user experience across all ACOE analytics products. It comprises three key components: Visual Guidelines, BI Components, and Design Patterns.

Following the successful publication of the Visual Guidelines in 2023, which has had a positive impact within ACOE, we are now embarking on Phase II. This phase involves the creation of reusable BI components that inherently apply all design requirements outlined in the Visual Guidelines, streamlining the implementation process. To cater to the needs of various roles, the BI components will be developed in three formats: Figma, Power BI, and Tableau.

The position will commence in April 2024 and has an estimated duration of 3-4 months.

Job Responsibilities

The ACOE Design team will lead the development of the Figma format, while the consultant will work in parallel to develop mirroring components in Power BI and Tableau formats. BI component publication will occur progressively (bi-)weekly throughout the project. ACOE Design will handle the documentation and publication tasks.

Why joining us

The DDS is currently one of the most visible cross-functional projects within ACOE, designed to serve as a system-wide design and engineering infrastructure. Your contributions will significantly streamline engineers' workflows and enhance end-users' experiences. By joining our team, you will be participating in this exciting journey, reshaping the work lives of engineers, and credited for your contributions on our DDS website.

Required qualifications

  • Proficiency in both Power BI and Tableau. If you are proficient in only one of the tools, we still encourage you to reach out to us.
  • In-depth knowledge of the best methods for developing visuals in both Tableau and Power BI, with a clear understanding of the capabilities and limitations of both tools, as outlined in the BI Tool Compatibility – DDS document.
  • Staying informed about official updates and experimental features of these two tools that could enhance implementation.
  • Experience with Figma and knowledge of inspecting design elements in Figma Dev Mode. If you lack Figma experience, a willingness to learn new tools is acceptable.
  • Possessing a keen eye for aesthetics, with the ability to capture design details and discern differences between various designs.
  • Strong communication and time management skills, enabling you to promptly address concerns and deliver outputs on schedule.
