ServiceNow Developer – ITOM (Discovery & Service Mapping)
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled ServiceNow ITOM Developer with deep expertise in Discovery and Service Mapping to design and deliver scalable IT operations solutions.
You will play a key role in improving CMDB accuracy, infrastructure visibility, and service-aware operations, leveraging automation, integrations, and best practices aligned with CSDM and ITIL frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
1. ITOM Development
Design, develop, and enhance ServiceNow ITOM modules (Discovery, Service Mapping, CMDB, Event Management)
Build scalable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and platform best practices
2. Discovery (Primary Focus)
Implement and manage ServiceNow Discovery for CI identification and CMDB population
Configure and maintain MID Servers, probes, sensors, and schedules
Troubleshoot discovery issues and improve coverage and success rates
Develop custom patterns for hybrid and cloud environments
3. Service Mapping (Primary Focus)
Design end-to-end service maps for critical business services
Identify dependencies across applications and infrastructure
Maintain accurate topology for impact and root cause analysis
4. CMDB & CSDM Governance
Ensure CMDB data quality, reconciliation, and normalization
Align data models with CSDM framework
Maintain CI relationships using discovery and mapping data
5. Integration & Automation
Build integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, and third-party tools
Enable automation for event correlation and orchestration
6. Collaboration & Delivery
Work with ITSM, Infra, Cloud, and App teams to translate requirements into solutions
Participate in Agile/Scrum delivery cycles
Provide technical guidance and documentation
Required Skills & Experience
Core Skills
Strong hands-on experience in:
ServiceNow ITOM (Discovery & Service Mapping)
CMDB lifecycle and CSDM implementation
Expertise in:
MID Servers, probes, sensors, pattern development
ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript, Glide API)
Technical Knowledge
Networking protocols: SSH, SNMP, WMI, HTTP
Cloud platforms: AWS / Azure / GCP
ITIL processes: Incident, Change, Problem
APIs & system integrations
Good to Have
Agent Client Collector (ACC) / Cloud Discovery
DevOps / CI-CD integrations
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT or equivalent
Preferred certifications:
CSA (Certified System Administrator)
CIS – Discovery / Service Mapping / ITOM
