 What will you be responsible for?

 

The Lead Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions that support Providence’s mission of delivering high-quality healthcare. This role involves leading a team of engineers, ensuring the security and efficiency of our cloud infrastructure, and collaborating with various departments to drive cloud initiatives.

 

What would your day look like? 

 

  • Develop and execute cloud architecture strategies aligned with Providence's goals, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of cloud engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of cloud resources to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols to safeguard sensitive healthcare data, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Work with IT, DevOps, and application development teams to integrate cloud solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor cloud expenditures and optimize resource usage to align with budgetary goals.
  • Identify and resolve cloud-related issues swiftly, minimizing downtime and ensuring seamless service delivery.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture, processes, and best practices for internal reference and training.

 

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Cloud Engineer who is not only an expert in cloud technologies but also a visionary leader. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5 to 8 years in cloud engineering, with a strong background in designing and managing complex cloud infrastructures, preferably in healthcare.
  • Proficiency in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and a deep understanding of cloud architecture, microservices, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and implement strategic cloud initiatives that drive business value.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across various departments.
  • Thorough knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance standards, particularly in the healthcare industry.
  • Passion for staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies, eager to apply new knowledge to improve cloud solutions.
  • Analytical mindset with good problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good to have coding skills in python.
