Principal Service Engineer – Citrix Platform Operations & Infrastructure

Location: Hyderabad, TG

Department: Service Engineering

Reports To: Senior Manager – Service Engineering

 

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Service Engineer to lead the operations, administration, and optimization of Citrix platform infrastructure as an individual contributor. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix Cloud, NetScaler, and virtualization technologies, with a proven track record in managing large-scale enterprise environments. 

This hands-on role demands technical leadership in adopting and implementing new technologies—including Storefronts, Cloud Connectors, PVS, MCS, Azure, VMware, Hyper-V, PowerShell scripting, Ansible, and GitHub—while training and upskilling team members. 

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in compute, storage, network, Active Directory, security, clinical applications, Imprivata, and more. Our teams follow Agile Scrum methodologies and product lifecycle best practices for Citrix products, ensuring continuous improvement and high-quality delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

Citrix Platform Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, administration, and health monitoring of Citrix environments (CVAD, Citrix Cloud, NetScaler, Provisioning Services, Machine Creation Services, Storefronts, Cloud Connectors, WEM, etc.)
  • Lead upgrades, migrations, and environment optimization for Citrix platforms, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including performance, configuration, and integration challenges.
  • Manage Citrix infrastructure components: Cloud Connectors, Storefronts, Licensing, FAS, SAML authentication, and databases for PVS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless VDI and published application experiences.

 

 

Infrastructure Management

  • Administer and maintain Windows Servers and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Azure).
  • Implement and manage operational standards, policies, and procedures for Citrix and support infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability using tools such as Control UP, Citrix Director/ Monitor, Citrix Analytics, etc.
  • Lead periodic security compliance planning and execution.

 

Automation & DevOps

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, Shell scripting, and integrate with infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform).
  • Manage code repositories and CI/CD pipelines for operational efficiency (GitHub).
  • Drive proactive issue resolution through observability, alert management, and reporting.

 

Technical Leadership & Enablement

  • Demonstrate technical leadership in adopting and supporting new technologies and best practices.
  • Train and upskill existing team members on Citrix platform operations, automation, and emerging technologies.
  • Author and contribute to internal knowledge bases and documentation.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance

  • Collaborate with cross-commit teams including Compute, Storage, Network, Active Directory, Security, Clinical Applications, Imprivata, and other stakeholders to deliver seamless Citrix services.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, security policies, and internal governance.
  • Support and deliver Enterprise Programs (Big Rocks) including Patching Management, Backup & Restores, DR Programs, Technical Debts, Exit EOL Products, etc.
  • Familiarity and experience with Azure AD, active directory, groups and users, domain trusts, group policies, DNS and DHCP. 

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix Cloud, NetScaler, and related virtualization technologies.
  • Proven expertise in deploying, managing, and optimizing Citrix environments at enterprise scale.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for high-priority, high-impact incidents.
  • Experience with Storefronts, Cloud Connectors, PVS, MCS, Azure, VMware, Hyper-V, PowerShell scripting, Ansible, GitHub, and automation.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, incident/problem/change management, and ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Remedy).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Citrix Certified Professional/Expert (CCA-V, CCP-V).
  • Experience in healthcare or large enterprise environments.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
  • Experience with security compliance, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery planning.
