Role: Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET - 2)

Experience: 3-6 Years

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to drive quality engineering initiatives across Cybersecurity, AI/ML, Data Engineering, and Enterprise Applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks, validating end-to-end business workflows, ensuring data quality, testing AI-driven solutions, and integrating quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.

This role requires strong expertise in test automation, API testing, data validation, cloud-native applications, and modern DevOps practices.


Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Quality Engineering

  • Review and analyze business requirements, system specifications, architecture designs, and technical documentation.
  • Develop comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test cases covering functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Lead test reviews and ensure high-quality test coverage across applications, APIs, data pipelines, and AI solutions.
  • Define quality metrics, testing standards, and best practices across projects.

Application & API Testing

  • Validate web applications, backend services, microservices, and APIs.
  • Design and execute automated UI, API, integration, regression, and end-to-end test suites.
  • Perform cross-browser, cross-platform, and compatibility testing.
  • Identify defects, perform root cause analysis, and work closely with engineering teams for resolution.

Data Engineering & Analytics Testing

  • Validate ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformations, data integrations, and reporting systems.
  • Develop automated data quality checks and reconciliation frameworks.
  • Create and execute SQL-based validation scripts to verify data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and lineage.
  • Test data ingestion pipelines and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent.

AI / ML / GenAI Testing

  • Validate AI/ML model outputs, prompt workflows, RAG pipelines, and AI agents.
  • Develop automated testing approaches for model accuracy, reliability, consistency, hallucination detection, and response quality.
  • Execute performance, robustness, and security testing for AI-enabled applications.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers to establish evaluation frameworks and quality benchmarks.

Test Automation & DevOps

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using industry-standard tools and practices.
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Implement quality gates and automated validations for deployments.
  • Enable continuous testing and shift-left quality practices.

Cloud & Platform Validation

  • Test distributed systems, cloud-native applications, APIs, event-driven architectures, and platform integrations.
  • Support test environment setup, configuration, monitoring, and release validation activities.
  • Validate system resiliency, scalability, and reliability.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, Data Engineers, Security Engineers, and Business stakeholders.
  • Provide regular testing status, quality metrics, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and global stand-ups.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and promote automation-first quality engineering practices.

Required Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech/MCA/B.Sc. (Computer Science or related discipline).
  • 3-6 years of hands-on experience in Software Testing and Test Automation.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile, Quality Engineering, and DevOps practices.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in C#/.NET.
  • Experience with Modern Data Engineering Technologies (Snowflake/ Databricks), SQL and database testing.
  • Experience in scripting using PowerShell, Python, or equivalent languages.
  • Test Automation: Strong expertise in Selenium WebDriver, Playwright (preferred), REST API testing, Test framework development, Test Data Management
  • API Testing : REST API validation, Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, API automation frameworks
  • Data Testing: SQL Server, Snowflake, Data warehouse testing, ETL/ELT validation
  • AI Testing (Preferred): Experience testing, LLM-based applications, RAG architectures, AI Agents, Prompt workflows, Adversarial Testing,  AI model evaluation frameworks
  • DevOps & Cloud : Azure DevOps, CI/CD Pipeline Integration, Git, Docker, Azure Cloud Services
  • Security Testing Awareness (Preferred): Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, Awareness of OWASP Top 10, secure coding validation, API security, and vulnerability testing.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience testing cybersecurity products or platforms.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring platforms.
  • Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or LoadRunner.
  • Experience with test automation in cloud-native environments.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
