Organization Background: 

The Lifecycle Engineering Services (LES) Team is responsible for the E2E Lifecycle functions of the Information Services (IS) portfolio. This includes the application and infrastructure retirement and proper archival. The Lifecycle Engineering Team focuses on providing the proper Archival Solution to be able to archive all critical patient and financial data in-house through tools developed and supported by our team. We achieve these efforts through continuous process improvement, automation, and tooling we aim to leverage across Providence as a product end users can use to self-serve. We are also responsible for the Continuity of Care of Providence Patient data in and out of Epic through our Electronic Data Conversion Team.

 

What Will You Be Responsible For?

  • Managing team and individual caregiver performance, career development, balancing team workload, dealing with escalations.
  • Managing and maintaining Azure databases and storage solutions to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Designing, developing, and implementing data pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
  • Leveraging automation for Electronic Data Conversion of Health Records, ensuring adherence to data engineering principles and practices.
  • Integrating HL7 standards within our systems, utilizing Epic Bridges for seamless healthcare data exchange.
  • Programming and maintaining Chronicles databases, ensuring efficient data handling and integrity.
  • Utilizing GitHub for code management, version control, and collaborative development.
  • Providing engineering requirements to the Product Development team to build robust solutions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams between India and the US to achieve project goals.
  • Mentoring, training, and developing data engineers in machine learning best practices, and driving a solid data architecture foundation.
  • Ensuring compliance with healthcare data standards and regulations, particularly related to electronic health records.
  • Prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively within an Agile Product Development framework.

 

What Would Your Day Look Like?

  • Managing team and individual caregiver performance, career development, balancing team workload, dealing with escalations.
  • Collaborating with team members across different time zones to discuss project progress and address any challenges.
  • Writing and reviewing code in Python, SQL, and Scala to manipulate and analyze data securely.
  • Implementing and monitoring data pipelines, ensuring they are efficient and effective.
  • Conducting data modeling and ETL processes to support various data engineering projects.
  • Integrating HL7 standards and working with Epic Bridges to facilitate healthcare data exchange.
  • Participating in code reviews and utilizing GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
  • Engaging in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Mentoring junior data engineers, sharing best practices, and providing guidance on machine learning models.
  • Communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding.
  • Continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement, automation, and innovation within the team.

 

Who We Are Looking For?

  • Someone who will think out of the box, challenge the status quo, and explore new and emerging technologies.
  • With a minimum of 10 to 12 years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing data pipelines, data modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Preferably bachelor’s, or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Has a strong understanding of data engineering principles and practices, with a focus on leveraging automation for electronic data conversion.
  • Is highly proficient in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and Scala for secure data manipulation and analysis.
  • Possesses a proficient understanding of CICD, repositories, indexing, and standard SDLC practices.
  • Demonstrates direct experience in machine learning models across large data sets, with the ability to influence, mentor, and develop data engineers in best practices.
  • Is knowledgeable about cloud computing principles and has experience working with Azure cloud services.
  • Is familiar with healthcare data standards and regulations, particularly related to electronic health records.
  • Exhibits strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Has excellent communication skills, capable of effectively conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Is able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Can work in an Agile Product Development environment and provide engineering requirements to product developers.
