Senior Engineer – IAM : Directory & Authentication Services

Focus: Directory Platforms, Hybrid Identity & Reliability

 

Role Summary

This Senior Engineer owns the core directory infrastructure, including hybrid AD, synchronization, and service reliability. The role ensures directory services are stable, performant, and invisible when working correctly.

 

Key Responsibilities

Directory Services Engineering

  • Operate and modernize on-prem Active Directory and Entra ID Connect.
  • Manage directory topology, replication, DNS integration, and trust models.
  • Drive hybrid identity resilience and fault tolerance.

Identity Lifecycle & Sync

  • Own identity synchronization pipelines and failure handling.
  • Improve reliability of join, registration, and lifecycle processes.
  • Partner with HR and provisioning teams to improve end-to-end flows.

Reliability & Operations

  • Define SLOs, SLIs, and service health metrics.
  • Lead root cause analysis for directory-related outages.
  • Improve patching, upgrades, and operational hygiene.

Automation

  • Automate directory operations and health checks.
  • Reduce manual interventions through engineering solutions.

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8–12 years in directory services engineering
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Active Directory internals
    • Hybrid identity architectures
    • Entra ID Connect / Cloud Sync
  • Strong troubleshooting and systems thinking
  • Automation-first approach

 

What Success Looks Like

  • Directory outages become rare and non-impacting
  • Sync failures are detected and resolved proactively
  • Hybrid identity operates as a reliable platform, not a bottleneck
