Job Description – Identity & Access Management (IAM) Operations Analyst

Experience: 2–5 Years

Role Summary

The IAM Operations Analyst is responsible for executing day-to-day identity and access management operational activities to ensure secure, compliant, and timely access for employees, contractors, and partners across enterprise systems. This role supports Joiner–Mover–Leaver (JML) processes, access provisioning and de-provisioning, directory and group management, and audit support activities, while adhering to established IAM policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The analyst works closely with IAM Engineering, IT Service Management, HR, and Application teams to ensure operational excellence and service reliability.

Key Responsibilities – Identity Lifecycle & Access Operations

  • Execute Joiner, Mover, and Leaver (JML) activities including onboarding, role changes, transfers, and terminations.
  • Provision, modify, and revoke user access across Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD) and enterprise applications.
  • Manage birthright access, role-based access, and entitlement updates based on approved requests.
  • Perform urgent access changes and terminations in accordance with defined security procedures.

Directory & Account Management

  • Create, update, and disable user accounts in Active Directory and Entra ID.
  • Manage security groups, distribution lists, and group memberships.
  • Support administration of secondary, admin, and service accounts under supervision.
  • Assist with identity reconciliation, duplicate account handling, and access cleanup activities.

Ticket & Service Management

  • Process IAM service requests and incidents through ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Ensure timely resolution of requests in line with defined SLAs.
  • Maintain accurate ticket documentation and audit-ready records.
  • Escalate complex or non-standard issues to IAM Engineering teams as required.

Compliance, Audit & Controls Support

  • Support periodic access reviews, certifications, and audit evidence collection.
  • Ensure access provisioning aligns with least-privilege and segregation-of-duties principles.
  • Follow IAM policies, standards, and control requirements to maintain audit readiness.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Adhere to IAM runbooks, SOPs, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify recurring issues and opportunities for process improvement or automation.
  • Contribute to knowledge articles and operational documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in IAM Operations, Access Management, or IT Operations roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Understanding of identity lifecycle management (Joiner–Mover–Leaver).
  • Experience working with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Basic understanding of access control concepts, RBAC, and least-privilege principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to Identity Governance platforms such as SailPoint or similar.
  • Experience supporting access reviews, audits, or compliance activities.
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as healthcare or financial services.
